Mt.St.Helens

When Mountains Move By Margaret Mills

"How can this be?" we cry, when some earthly institution or relationship we perceived as strong and stable, as immutable as the hills, crumbles before our eyes. How like a mountain blowing apart it is for a twenty-five-year marriage to suddenly end in betrayal. And bereavement! Even years afterward we are brought up short at odd moments, startled by the enormity of our loss, the inconceivable change to our personal landscape.

DirtyMoney

Dirty Money by David Porter

Once as I was praying and meditating, I grew excited thinking of something I would like to do for the Lord. But that thought quickly gave place to another, "If I did this and was successful, I might get puffed up with pride. Then God would have to put a thorn in my flesh, like He did for Paul, so that I wouldn't be proud. I don't want that, so I'll just forget about doing this thing."

Candles

Christ Among the Candlesticks by Morris Williams

The book of Revelation in the Bible is not a revelation of mysterious men and beasts. Neither is it a revelation of the anti-Christ, the false prophet, or the devil. The book talks about them, but is not a revelation of them. The book is a revelation of Jesus Christ, and if you want to know more about Jesus, just read the revelation and you will learn much about Him!

Prayer

Effective Prayer by Gwen Miller

It is not easy to follow exactly in another's footsteps. When we lived in Michigan, our sons helped with chores. Sometimes we would go together, and if there had been a deep snow, my boys would ask me to take shorter steps so they could step in the exact place I had walked. Often their request came because the snow was so deep that it would be over the tops of their boots if they could not walk in my steps.

Flying Bricks

Coming in November - Dealing with Devastation by Arlene Zawko

My husband and I, along with our five young children, were resident missionaries in Romania, where we had served since 1990. When our marriage ended, I not only lost my husband, but I also lost my home and ministry, along with my reputation and influence as a pastor's wife. Although we stayed together until early 1995, it is the seventh of February in 1994 that always comes to my mind when I think of our failed marriage.
